For one of my required science classes I took biology with lab. In my lab class there was a kid who was a bit awkward. I assume he was a freshman. He would often burp, to my amusement! And to much of the class’s dismay. My teacher found this situation very unfortunate one day. I could see it in her body language, and the cute girl sitting across from me was pale. On this particular day the burping from my classmate was overwhelming the lesson.
Even though this is my job… it was revolting. You could smell the bad food that caused this situation in the first place! It had been funny many times before. This felt like torture. He was even gagging. I felt the need to talk to him and offer him a water bottle. He denied any help, embarrassed that I was bringing attention to his burps. The ones that the entire class were struggling to ignore. The bodies shrinking away from him at his shared table, and the life in the eyes of the guy sitting across from him left.
He began to hold his burps in. I think this is an unfortunate response, and I did not mean to make him feel bad. I know that water helps burps, and he sounded like he was gonna hurl any second. I need the dry heaving to stop, please.
We tried to make light of this situation, although his esophagus cacophony was almost leaving our teacher speechless. A few of us started burping on command, guess what it wasn’t guys! I hope he took this as us making light of the situation because I thought it was hilarious. He probably does have a problem though, and I feel bad for my teacher after we started joining in. She looked ready to give up.
One day I came into class late, so I was seated across from said gentleman. Not only did he burp on me, but he sneezed on me as well. How pissed off and flabbergasted I was. I have the right to talk to him because it involved me after that point lol, and I understand first hand that sitting across from him is difficult.
